2013 13th Street “Grande Cuvee” Blanc de Noir

This wine is one of the greatest accomplishments of veteran winemaker and “sparkling master” Jean-Pierre Colas. The wine was aged on lees for a minimum of 5 years during which the bubbles became smaller and more compact, developing a luxurious finesse and creaminess, with a rare level of complexity. This is a quintessential Champagne style wine with stunning Niagara attributes. The nose offers multiple angles and aromas, with primary fruits like red apple, lemon zest, strawberry and white flowers, while the secondary aromas dominate with apple pie, fresh baked croissant and caramel. The palate is stunning and complex, offering flavours of baked apple, honey melon, lemon meringue pie, baklava pastry, while the vibrant acidity keeps your mouth watering and wanting another sip. The mousse is rich and thick keeping all the components in harmony. The finish is very long, showing an evolution of reductive notes, and culminating with a tart flinty minerality with a hint of white pepper. A long and rewarding sensory experience!
