2013 Desert Hills “Three Boys Vineyard” Syrah

Soft and smooth, this wine has aged very well over the last decade. The structure remains solid with great fleshy acidity, while the tannins have melted into the wine bringing a very gentle progression from start to finish. The nose is very classic from the Black Sage bench, offering loads of herbaciousness, smoked bacon, and ripe red fruits. The palate is gracious and sophisticated with a soft texture and good length. On the front, you find notes of red cherry, raspberry, blueberry and cherry cola, while on the mid-palate, the dry sage and dry thyme take over with a meaty component that Syrah is well known for. The finish is unmistakably south Okanagan with layers of black, white and chilli pepper, lingering long enough to get your attention. (CWC, 07/01/23).
